Competitions in April 2020

Hi Btree Code Academy Families,

First and foremost, we hope you and your families are safe and well. This is a trying time for all of us, but we hope we can use this to spend more time with our families.

With that said, we have a few announcements to make about this month's coding competitions.

Although USACO season has ended, there are several competitions in April to keep your child busy. Please note that students have already been notified of the competitions they are able to compete in.Google competitions are generally harder and geared towards older students (juniors+), whilst HSPC is more available to everybody (middle school and up)

This competition is hosted by Google for everyone around the world who wants an internship at Google. There is a total of seven knockout rounds, and we expect USACO Bronze students to be able to pass the first few rounds. Students who pass the qualification round will continue to compete in the following rounds.

- Round 1A : Apr 11

- Round 1B : Apr 19

This competition is hosted by Google for (mainly) college students who want to work for Google. Each round is discrete and students will be given a certificate if they can score at least 1 point.

3. High School Programming Competition

Registration: by April 3 (early), or by April 18. ($20~$30)

Date: Apr 25

What should parents do: If interested, please sign up at the URL above

This is a local coding competition hosted by CalPoly Pomona. We initially expected this competition to be cancelled, but they decided to host it online instead. The announcement came to us late, so some competition classes have already shifted to app/game development. We will be making some changes in April to temporarily cover more competition material for these classes.
